Weekly Note From the Pastor

“I will sing of your love and justice, Lord.
I will praise you with songs.
I will be careful to live a blameless life—
when will you come to help me?
I will lead a life of integrity
in my own home.
I will refuse to look at
anything vile and vulgar.
I hate all who deal crookedly;
I will have nothing to do with them.
I will reject perverse ideas
and stay away from every evil.
I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors.
I will not endure conceit and pride.” Psalm 101:1-5 NLT
In light of what I have been preaching on lately, this passage is a good declaration for those who desire to turn from sexual impurity in their lives. To refuse and reject would be a great start for so many. Refuse to lay eyes upon and reject even a ‘hint’ of immorality will help set a standard that can help prevent sexual sin. May the Lord help us and keep our hearts and minds pure before Him.

There are ministers who from time to time come to TCOC to see what and how we do things. They are looking for inspiration, fresh ideas, and hopefully a challenge to pursue what God has. Many questions are asked and explanations given for why they are in the place they are. And though this particular question is never asked directly, it always seems to be the underlining inquiry: “Why is TheChurchOfCorinth so blessed and we are seemingly not?” I can’t really explain it either. But I do know it is more than mere human effort or talent! It is more than the ideal area or the style of worship. It is more than the philosophy of ministry and the aesthetics of the building. It has much more to do with the obedience of the servants and the spirit in which His directives are carried out.
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7 NIV

What a great trip to Charlotte, NC last week for the National Fine Arts Festival! I am always blessed to watch our youth, meaning the youth of the Church, as well as our Catalyst Youth, use their gifts and talents for the Lord. I was very proud of our group and how well they handled themselves and performed under pressure. What a great experience! I look forward to next year.
